FAQ & contact

The questions people actually ask. For step-by-step guides see Help & Quick Start.

Does it work offline?

Yes. GrowChronicle is offline-first: logging feeds, readings, photos, schedules and harvests all happen on your device, with no connection needed. There is no server holding your journal.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. You install the app and start logging.

Where is my data, and do you ever see it?

It stays on your device. We do not collect, receive or transmit it, and there are no analytics or ads in the app. The only copy that leaves your phone is a backup file you export yourself, and you choose where that goes. Details in the privacy policy.

How do I move to a new phone?

Export a backup on the old phone (Settings → Data → Export backup), get the file across however you like — cloud drive, email, cable — then install GrowChronicle on the new phone and use Import backup. Because everything is local, this is the only way your journal moves, so do it before you wipe the old device.

How do I back up, and how often?

Settings → Data → Export backup writes a single JSON file containing your grows, feeds, readings, presets, shelf, gear and settings. It is a plain file that you own.

There is no cloud copy. That is the trade-off for a journal nobody else can read — if you lose the phone without a backup, the data is gone. Export after anything you would hate to re-enter.

What is free, and what will Pro add?

The whole logging loop is free and stays free: one active grow, unlimited feeds and readings, photos, the timeline, charts, schedules, presets, shelf and gear, backups, and a daily reminder digest.

Pro is not on sale yet. When it arrives it unlocks scale rather than basics — unlimited active grows, your own formulas and presets, per-event reminders, and analytics across more than one grow at a time.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time payment, with no account and no server — it unlocks features in the app you already have. If cloud sync is ever added it would be a separate, optional subscription, because syncing genuinely does need an account and a server; the offline core stays free either way.

Why does the free plan allow only one active grow?

Because that is the honest line between “a grow journal” and “running several at once”. Archived and harvested grows do not count, so a season of finished grows stays fully readable — the limit is on how many run at the same time.

What happens to my grows if I import a backup on the free plan?

Nothing is deleted. If a backup contains more active grows than the free plan allows, one stays active and the rest are archived — all their data intact, and all of it back in play if you unarchive or upgrade later.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases go through Google Play, so refunds follow Google’s policy rather than ours:

Google also allows only one refund per app, so re-buying something you have already been refunded for makes it ineligible. None of this affects your statutory rights.

Which permissions does the app ask for, and why?

It does not ask for location, contacts or background access.

Which languages does the app speak?

Nine, including both English variants: English (UK), English (US), Czech, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Polish. It follows your device language automatically, and you can override it in Settings.

What language is support in?

Support is in English and Polish. Write in your own language if you prefer — we’ll translate it and reply in English.

I found a bad translation. Where do I report it?

In the app: More → Help → Report a problem, and choose a wrong or awkward translation. It attaches the screen and the original English wording automatically, which is what lets a translation get fixed even in a language we do not read. Corrections are genuinely welcome — they are the main way the other seven languages improve.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. GrowChronicle is Android first. An iOS version is on the roadmap but has no date, and we would rather say so than imply one.

Something is broken. What now?

Check known issues first — if it is already listed, it is already being worked on and you need do nothing. Otherwise report it from More → Help → Report a problem in the app, which attaches your app version, screen and device automatically. If you cannot open the app at all, use the form below.

For anything the app cannot answer — questions before you install, purchases, privacy, or an app that will not start. This builds an email in your own mail app; nothing is sent from this page.

Support is in English and Polish — write in your own language if you prefer. A few technical details (your browser language and this page) are attached in English so we can read your message whatever language you write in. See exactly what gets sent.
